Ex-LMS Fowler Class 2P

Fowler's stalwart little 2P 4-4-0s were spread throughout the LMS system, lasting well into the 60s under BR on light mainline passenger trains. Before the Standards, they were some of the most modern engines Barrow had – which is not saying much.

​​

40654 was allocated to Barrow in June of 1948 from Carlisle Upperby, remaining until its withdrawal in December 1959. It is presented in BR Transitional, BR Early, and BR Late liveries.

​

40695 was allocated to Barrow in October of 1957 from Preston and was reallocated to Corkerhill in March 1960. It is presented in BR Transitional and BR Lined Late livery.

Ex-LNWR Webb 17" Coal Engine

Built from 1873-1892, these are said to be some of the simplest, cheapest locomotives ever built in the UK. From LMS days until the 50s they were a staple of Barrow shed.​

28116 was allocated to Barrow in March of 1948, staying until it was withdrawn in January 1950. It is represented in LMS black and a fictional BR Black – none of these had BR livery applied.

28263 was allocated to Barrow in June of 1952 from Shrewsbury, staying until it was withdrawn in March 1953. It is represented in LMS black and a fictional BR Black.

​

28251 was allocated to Barrow in March of 1948, staying until it was withdrawn in May 1952. It is represented in LMS black and a fictional BR Black.

Ex-Midland 1873-class 2F

Deeley rebuilt many of Johnson's 1873-type engines with more modern Belpaire boilers and standardized fittings, allowing many of these engines to last through to the 60s despite their age.

58291 was allocated to Barrow shed in February 1952 from Willesden, staying until it was reallocated to Sutton Oak in August 1959. It is presented in BR Early and BR Late liveries.

​

58293 was allocated to Barrow shed in February 1956 before being sent to Chester in November 1957. It then returned to Barrow from Rhyl in December 1959, staying until withdrawal in January 1961. It's presented in BR Early and BR Late liveries.

Ex-Midland 1873-class 3F

Another Deeley rebuild of the Johnson 1873s, these were more powerful but rebuilds were switched to smaller-boilered 2Fs once Fowler's 3835s were on the scene.

​

43618 was allocated to Barrow from Nuneaton in November 1957 and only lasted five months before being sent to Rhyl in April 1958. It is presented in BR Early and BR Late Black liveries.

Ex-LNWR Webb 5ft 6in Tank

Webb built these versatile little 2-4-2Ts for suburban and ranch goods services. They did not last long as the years went on, most being withdrawn by 1950.

46727 was allocated to Barrow from Warrington Dallam in March of 1952, staying until it was withdrawn in December of the same year. It is represented in BR Early Blacklivery.

Ex-L&YR Class 5 Tank

Aspinall built these tough 2-4-2T's for a range of duties from local passenger runs to a short-lived stint on light express duties.​

10643 was allocated to Barrow as early as 1933, and was not reallocated until October 1951 when it was sent to Plodder Lane, then Preston in August 1952. It is represented in LMS lined, BR Transitional and BR Early Black liveries.

​

10644 was allocated to Barrow in July 1947, staying until it was reallocated to Preston in July 1952, reuniting with '643. It is represented in LMS lined, BR Transitional and BR Early Black liveries.
